Portfolio Day @ Pratt

Considering Risd hated my work @ portfolio day in boston, thank jesus this time was different @ Pratt. The School of The Art Institute of Chicago (SAIC) accepted my portfolio and Parsons said i have "lots of potential"... i don't know what that means exactly, but it sounds like they appreciate my work and sees some interest in what i have to offer to the school

  • High point of this experience: i do have some qualities to become an actual photographer... i wouldn't say artist because that's kind of a stretch but we'll see what happens...

  • Low point of this experience: still debating between culinary school and art school... even though i haven't been accepted to any schools yet, I am still scared of what's going to happen the next hour.
today i went on this field trip with smfa class to Photographic Resource Center @ BU. Thought it was quite interesting. The exhibition was Leopold Godowsky jr. color photography awards winners. One of the recipient Curtis Mann really caught my attention. He downloaded pictures of northern Africa and Middle east from flickr. He then paints over parts of the image he wants to show and bleaches out the rest to burn them out. One of the image that intrigued me the most was the picture below.

to me, Mann is trying to emphisize the child's point of view of the soldier and the surrounding environment @ the moment the picture was being taken.

epiphany

I thinking blogging has been around for a while... never really thought about it but since i love talking about myself so much... i guess blogging about it would help me relieve my need to share my stories about my uneventful crazy life
